Knowing God
Did you ever wonder if there is a God? And
if there is, how you might come to know Him? You are not the only
one who has questions about God.
Almost everyone does. That is why the Bible has answers.
God wants to have a personal relationship
with you starting today. Don't wait until it's too late! There
are only a few simple steps to take. It is not a formula or a ritual
but simply a matter of what is truly in your heart.
You Can Know God Personally!
First of all, you can be sure that God loves you so much and He
created you to know Him personally and experience His love. The
Bible says "For God so loved the world, that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish,
but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
However,
we do not enjoy God's love and His plan for our lives because we
have chosen to disobey Him and go our own willful way. The result
is that we are separated from God. "For all have sinned and
fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)
Salvation is a free gift offered by Jesus
Christ, not a result of your own efforts. God sent His Son Jesus
Christ to die on the cross for our sins. "The Father has sent
the Son to be the Savior of the world." (1 John 4:14) Because
Jesus never sinned, He is the only one who could take the punishment
for our sins. The Bible says " But God demonstrates His own
love for us in this; While we were still sinners, Christ died for
us." (Romans 5:8)
Receiving God's Free Gift
Receiving the free gift that God is offering is easy. If you believe
that Jesus died for you, tell Him that you are sorry for your
sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Savior. "But as many
as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children
of God, to those who believe in His name." (John 1:12)
Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the
door and knock; if any one hears My voice and opens the door, I
will come in to him" (Revelation 3:20). God's free
gift of eternal life is available to everyone who asks by a simple
prayer of faith. The Bible says, "By grace you have been saved
through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
not as a result of works, that no one should boast" (Ephesians
2:8,9).
Receiving Christ is a matter of changing
your mind. Instead of trusting yourself, you are now ready to trust
Jesus Christ to come into your life, forgive your sins and become
your Lord and Savior. Just to agree intellectually that Jesus Christ
is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for our sins is
not enough. Nor is it enough to have an emotional experience. You
must receive Jesus Christ by faith, as an act of the will.
Jesus will save you, but you must come to
Him on His terms:
- ADMIT that you have sinned.
- TURN away from your sin to Jesus.
- BELIEVE that Jesus died for your sins and rose from the dead.
- ACCEPT Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
Accept Him by calling upon His Name. The
Bible says, "Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be
saved." (Romans 10:13)
If you want to receive Jesus now, just tell
Him in a sincere prayer that by faith you need and accept His free
gift of salvation.
Call on the Name of the Lord by praying a
simple prayer such as this:
Dear Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe
that You died for my sins. I now invite you to come into my
heart and life. I want to trust You as Savior and follow you
as Lord. Thank you for loving me and for giving me eternal
life.
If you sincerely prayed that prayer, the
Bible says that you are now a Child of God! "That as many
as received Him, to them He gave the right to become Children of
God, even to those who believe in His name." (John 1:13) You
can rest assured that you are going to Heaven when you die and
you now have the power to overcome the sin in your life.
A
Fresh Start
"If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away;
behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:1). When you
pray to receive Christ, then you are "born again" with new spirit (John
3:1-8). You have a new relationship with God!
It is important for you to seek out a place
