Today’s reading: 1 Kings 6:1-38 and 1 Timothy 4:11

“In the eleventh year, eighth month, the house was finished throughout according to all its specifications.  So he was seven years in building it.” 1 Kings 6:38

Chapter 6 describes the beauty and majesty of the temple Solomon built for God.  It became a wonder of the then-known world.  When people saw it, they were struck by its splendor.  Solomon wanted the greatness of the building to remind people of thegreatness of God.  Today, you are God’s temple.  He doesn’t live in a building; he lives in you (1 Cor. 6:19).  Lord, my life is your living temple.  Let it reflect your beauty and majesty.

“I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me” Galatians 2:20

WOW! I wish I could have seen King Solomon’s temple. What a sight it must have been . Carefully constructed, precisely planned, meticulously maintained and NOW because of the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross, NOW all that careful consideration, precise planning, meticulous maintaining is being done in ME?! Blows me away! Sure King Solomon’s temple must have been wonderful to see but seeing what God has done and is doing in my life and the lives of others is simply amazing too.

“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16
How does this happen, how are we God’s temple? Jesus said in Revelation 3:20 “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” Christ in you, (in ME!) the hope of glory -Colossians 1:27

King Solomon spent seven years constructing the temple where God would reside and the Bible says “being confident of this very thing, that He who had begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Phillipians 1:6
Thank You Jesus!! That the work you’ve started in us you will carefully continue until we see you, there won’t be a running low of resources, a union strike or anything that will stop You from molding and unfolding the plan you have for our lives!

Just had to share, I know I’ve heard Pastor George say time and again how our Devo’s are soooo God. And I’ve seen and experienced this first hand!
Tonight at Women’s Bible Study, our focus was on just this, on what the Lord had laid on the heart of the person who wrote today’s devotion! Even specifically what was written about 1 Cor 6:19 not only was it something we were reflecting on in our discussions but it was actually in our workbook on Philippians. God is so good :) There’s no detail too small in God’s economy!
