Reading for today: I Samuel 21:7-9 and Ephesians 1:3-6
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing…having predestined us to adoption as sons…”
Ephesians 1:3-5a
God certainly has “blessed us with every spiritual blessing!” The biggest blessing we possess is mentioned in verse 5, adoption! Imagine, no fatherless children in heaven! Imagine, we can go to heaven and be with our Lord and FATHER! Why? These verses mention that it’s “for His pleasure,” because He loves YOU!
“I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty” 2 Cor 6:18
Thank You Lord, for choosing me as your special girl, as your child!
I remember one Christmas as a child, my parents had just divorced and my newly single mom was struggling for every dime she could earn. Even at ages 9 & 10 my brother and I knew, those specials toys we set our hearts on, were out of the question. We even discussed how we’d probably have to enjoy them at our friends houses who would probably receive them as gifts that year. Until my mom came home one night and told us we were being “adopted” for Christmas that year.
Not only did I get her but I also got the biggest Barbi Dream House, Barbi Ferrari and soooo much more. Our friends came to our house to play that year 
All because a couple felt led to “adopt” us, treat us like if we were their own children that Christmas and bless us beyond what we asked for.
She explained that a family wanted us to write down what we wanted for Christmas. It was our “little kids” dream come true! We both wrote down the name of the toy we wanted and handed it to my mom, not fully understanding this “Adopted” thing. Christmas morning when we woke up our little tree was bombarded with gifts like never before. Here we were thinking we’d the the toy we’d written down (which by the way for me was a Hawaiian Barbi)
Our God does this for us like no other! The Bible says that:
“Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.” Galatians 4:6-7
“Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” Romans 8:17
Because our Lord has adopted us, we are heirs, brought into a new family, an eternal one. His love is unending! And His Word says:
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,” Ephesians 3:20
If a couple here on this earth can exceed my expectations by their blessing to us how much more can our Heavenly Father who is the creator of all things do for us. Lord, Thank You for reminding us that we’ve been adopted into your family and all the blessings we receive from knowing and believing this now and in the life that is to come!
