Reading for today: 1 Samuel 9:11-17 and Romans 8:5-11
“Now the Lord had told Samuel in his ear the day before Saul came… So when Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said to him…” 1 Samuel 9:15a & 17a
How beautiful is the relationship between Samuel and the Lord. From the very beginning of Samuel’s life (see Samuel 3:10) God is whispering in Samuel’s ear and Samuel was ready to do the work of the Lord. Oh Lord, give us ears to hear! We desire to serve you.

“Now the Lord had told Samuel in his ear” wow, sometimes I forget that our sweet Lord, speaks so softly if we’d only incline our ears to hear. Give us ears to hear indeed Lord!
I’m reminded I need to stay close to Him and listen closely to all He has to say through His Word, in my devotions, through Pastor George’s messages, etc. He wants me to hear all that He has to pour out to me so that I can also in turn pour out to others especially my boys. I love my wonderful God!
I’m reminded of a this verse in Deutronomy where the Lord tells Moses
“Oh that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever”
When I became a mom he gave me the verse that follows
“But you stay here with me so that I may give you all the commands, decrees and laws you are to teach them to follow in the land I am giving them to possess.” Deut 5:29, 31
