Reading for today: Deuteronomy 30:11-16, Galatians 4:21-27″
“But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise, 24 which things are symbolic…” Galatians 4:23-24a
We can sure make a mess of things when we do things in the flesh! It is comforting that God used this as an example to us that He will accomplish His work; regardless of our blunders and shortcomings. There’s also hope that, “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Phil. 1:6). Also, Hebrews 13:21 says, “Make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well-pleasing in His sight…”

Reading for today: Deuteronomy 30:1-10, Galatians 4:17-20
“…that the LORD your God will bring you back from captivity, and have compassion on you, and gather you again from all the nations where the LORD your God has scattered you.” Deuteronomy 30:3
Though Israel failed to obey the Lord and was scattered throughout the world, God promised that if they returned and obeyed His voice, He would then restore them. God was faithful to bring Israel back to the land He had given them. So it is with us. God is faithful. Whatever promise God has given you, He will be faithful to fulfill it.

Reading for today: Deuteronomy 29:14-29, Galatians 4:12-16
“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” Deuteronomy 29:29
Some things of the Lord are hidden from us. We do not know the day or hour of His return, or the number of our days, but God has revealed many more things to us, including His precious gift of salvation through His Son. How blessed we are that God has revealed to us His grace and mercy. As the chorus goes, “Open the eyes of my heart, Lord - I want to see you.” What has God revealed to you?

Reading for today: Deuteronomy 29:10-13, Galatians 4:8-11
“…that He may establish you today as a people for Himself, and that He may be God to you.” Deuteronomy 29:13
How can I make the Lord “God to me?” Only by putting God above all my desires and plans and letting Him work in the way He would like to in my life. Let God have His way in you and seek Him first. Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding: in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” Let’s lean on Him. He will hold us up and keep us from falling.

Reading for today: Deuteronomy 29:5-9, Galatians 4:6-7
“Therefore keep the words of this covenant, and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.” Deuteronomy 29:9
In this scripture, “to prosper” means “to understand or know.” To read and know His Word is so important. “Your Word I have hidden in my heart. That I might not sin against You.” (Psalm 119:11). Lord, I pray that I would understand and know Your ways and plans for my life. As the old hymn says, “Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey.” Walk in obedience that you may prosper in the Lord!

Reading for today: Deuteronomy 29:1-4, Galatians 4:1-5
“Yet the Lord has not given you a heart to perceive and eyes to see and ears to hear…” Deuteronomy 29:4
How blessed we are that know the Lord! He has given us the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth (1 Corinthians 2:9- 12). “But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yea the deep things of God.” Praise the Lord that even though the children of Israel didn’t have a heart to perceive, He has given us a heart to perceive, eyes to see, and ears to hear through His Spirit.

Reading for today: Deuteronomy 28:45-68, Galatians 3:26-29
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:28
In one of the most quoted verses of the Bible, we are reminded that Jesus died for everyone and that anyone - regardless of any past sin, wrongdoing, background, or religion - can find salvation and eternal life simply by accepting God’s gift of the cross. Jesus died for our sin and by believing in Him, we become one in Him. Isn’t that wonderful?

Reading for today: Deuteronomy 28:15-44, Galatians 3:19-25
“Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.” Galatians 3:21
Since we are sinful by nature, it would be great if we could become righteous simply by writing a law stating: “We hereby declare that all are righteous.” However, God’s law shows us how foolish that idea is - we need a Savior to become righteous. Jesus is that Savior.

Reading for today: Deuteronomy 28:1-14, Galatians 3:15-18
“Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they shall be afraid of you.” Deuteronomy 28:10
It is amazing how relevant the Old Testament is to our daily lives. When we live as Christ lived, following His example, we too are a people set apart, so that the “peoples of the earth” see that we are called by the Lord. Today, live so that others will know that Christ lives within you.

Reading for today: Deuteronomy 27:11-26, Galatians 3:13-14
“…that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” Galatians 3:14
We are indeed the children of Abraham and we receive the blessings and promises made to Abraham by God through the sacrifice of His “only begotten Son,” Jesus Christ, who died on a cross to become our redemption. God makes it so by the work of His Holy Spirit when we choose to put our faith in Him.
