Readings for today: Leviticus 16:20-34, 1 Corinthians 12:15-18
“This shall be an everlasting statute for you, to make atonement for the
children of Israel, for all their sins, once a year.” Leviticus 16:34
Israelite priests had to make special sacrifices every year because of sin, both
theirs and the people’s. There could never be enough sacrifices, enough good
works, to erase the sins they’d committed. It had to be done repeatedly. I’m so
thankful that Jesus, having no sin of his own, was both able and willing to take
my place!
