Reading for today: Genesis 50:1-6, Acts 27:39-44
“Then Joseph fell on his father’s face, and wept over him, and kissed him.” Genesis 50:1
It is always difficult to say good-bye to our loved ones when they leave this world. Our hearts are broken and we need time to heal. Nevertheless we “sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.” I Thess. 4:13. So comfort and encourage one another with the hope of the resurrection.

How interesting …. the stern was being broken up by the violence of the waves.
I often feel as though my “stern” is being broken up by all the violence and it’s a disaster, but look at the next phrase:
… those who could swim should jump overboard first and get to land, and the rest, some on boards and some on parts of the ship. And so it was that they all escaped safely to land.
It was the very broken stern which saved those who couldn’t swim!! God had promised that no life would be lost and what must have seemed bad to men was actually a lifesaver from God!
