Reading for today: Genesis 32:29-32, Acts 10: 44-48
”All the circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.” Acts 10:45
Sometimes we can get so caught up in being the “right kind of person” that we loose sight of the fact that anyone can be saved. You don’t have to be a Jew, you don’t have to be perfect, you just have to admit that you need Him. That’s it, so simple, yet so difficult for so many of us to accept. “…confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead…” Romans 10:9

The Israelites not eating of the muscle of the hip because God touched Jacob there reminds me of the Rechabites in Jeremiah 35 who wouldn’t drink wine because their father Jonadab had commanded them not to nearly 300 years before (2Kings 10:15). How many of us have short memories of what the Lord has done for us in the last 20 years or the last week? Lord help me to cling to you and respect your Holy Name as these mighty men of old did.
