Reading for today: Genesis 32:1-7, Acts 9:31-35
“We came to your brother Esau, and he also is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him.” Genesis 32:6
Jacob feared the unknown which brought him to seek the Lord in prayer. Do I immediately resort to prayer when I’m fearful or even uncomfortable with my circumstances? Do I let this fear debilitate me and even isolate me from my God who is in complete control of all things in my life?

Jacob is such a funny man. First God sends an angel to encourage him, then at the first sign of trouble he goes right back to relying on the flesh … “look at all this stuff I’ve got!” and then he falls into fear. I am just like Jacob, but that also encourages me because I see that God loves Jacob in spite of his failures and stuck with him.
