Reading for today: Genesis 32:29-32, Acts 10: 44-48
”All the circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.” Acts 10:45
Sometimes we can get so caught up in being the “right kind of person” that we loose sight of the fact that anyone can be saved. You don’t have to be a Jew, you don’t have to be perfect, you just have to admit that you need Him. That’s it, so simple, yet so difficult for so many of us to accept. “…confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead…” Romans 10:9

Reading for today: Genesis 32:27-28, Acts 10:24-43
”Your name shall no longer be called Jacob but Israel …” Genesis 32:28
In just one breath he went from Deceiver (Jacob) to Prince of God (Israel).
In just one breath we are transformed from sinner to saint when we give our heart to Him. When we are faced with uncertainty, if we cling to Him there will be blessings and we will prevail.

Reading for today: Genesis 32:25-26, Acts 10:9-23
“They said Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous and God fearing man, well spoken of by the entire nation of the Jews…” Acts 10:22
WOW! This guy was a Roman, not someone who would be generally liked by the Jews, and yet he was “well spoken of” not by just a few, but “by the entire nation of Jews”!
That is a reputation I for one would love to have! Jesus tells us to “love our neighbors”, no matter who the are!

“…He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him.” Genesis 32:25
Jacob’s days of running are done! Am I running from anything in my life, and what does God have to do to get my attention? Will I rely on God or will I try to do it my way? Lord, may I surrender all to You. I’m asking You to increase my faith and trust in You daily; have Your way in my life.

Reading for today: Genesis 32:8-21, Acts 9:36-43
“But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha arise.” Acts 9:40
So many times I have faced something that seems impossible in and of my own understanding. Do I ask God for and believe He would work miracles in my life? Prayer does move mountains, and God is blessed when we cry out to Him. With God all things are possible. Lord, I bow before You in thanksgiving and in praise.

Reading for today: Genesis 32:1-7, Acts 9:31-35
“We came to your brother Esau, and he also is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him.” Genesis 32:6
Jacob feared the unknown which brought him to seek the Lord in prayer. Do I immediately resort to prayer when I’m fearful or even uncomfortable with my circumstances? Do I let this fear debilitate me and even isolate me from my God who is in complete control of all things in my life?

“…and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way,…” Acts 9:27
Saul was changed for life when he met the Lord on the road to Damascus. The Lord has glorified Himself in each of His children as we have all been changed through the love of God our Father. No greater love has man known.

Reading for today: Genesis 31:33-42, Acts 9:17-19
“Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales and he received his sight at once;…” Acts 9:18
How often I can’t see God, hear Him, or receive what He has for me because I’m distracted by my circumstances. Can I trust God with everything in my life - the big and the small things? Lord, would You open my eyes to the spiritual blindness in my life and to the things that may be hindering my walk with You?

“Lord I have heard from many about this man,… But the Lord said to him, ‘Go, for he is a chosen instrument of Mine…’ “ Acts 9:13, 15
Ananias did not put confidence in what he heard or knew of Saul, but he trusted God’s plan to redeem Saul for the kingdom. Take time today to thank the heavenly Father for those He has sent into your life who believed in what God could do in your life despite what others were saying.

Reading for today: Genesis 31:14-21, Acts 9:1-9
“…Rachel had stolen the household idols that were her father’s.” Genesis 31:19
Why would Rachel drag these useless pieces of her past with her into her new life? Why do we drag our past around with us like “household idols?” They are stolen property and need to be swept out of their hiding places - it is called spring-cleaning for the soul. Is there a closet in your heart that needs a spring-cleaning today?
