Reading for today: Genesis 17:15-22, Matthew 19:1-12
Then Abraham fell upon his face and laughed and said in his heart, “Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old bear a child? Genesis 17:17
Abraham isn’t the only one that has doubted God’s Word. How many of us are guilty of that? Remember Psalm 33:4 which says, “For the Word of the Lord is right; and all His works are done in truth.”

More and more I am finding myself being reminded that God only does wondrous things. This is even printed on our Women’s Retreat flyers, in case I forget this word of wisdom
Whether or not my will is accomplished doesn’t matter. I know that His plan is perfect, as is His timing. I’d rather have a ‘no’ answer from God (because He always knows best,) than a ‘yes’ answer from Him simply because I am trying to demand my own way (but He knows that it will only hurt me in the long run.)
Was Abraham doubting God’s word or was his laugh an expression of joy? It seems clear that Sarah’s later laugh is one of disbelief, but I’m not sure about Abraham’s.
It’s funny Matt. When I was reading this yesterday I was wondering the same thing so I went to Pastor Chuck Smith’s commentary, David Guzik’s commentary from Blue Letter Bible and the attached commentary from Bible Gateway and found that they all agree that he was expressing an expression of joy!!
