Reading for today: Isaiah 15:1-9 & 16:1-14 and John 4:11-14

“But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14b

If you were to ask anyone who has been delivered out of a false religion or cult and drawn into the truth and Good News of Christ, they would testify that He is the true living water. In John 7:38-39, Jesus refers to the living water as the Spirit, and that once a person believes in Him as Savior, their heart will “flow rivers of living water.” Are you parched and thirsty? Is your heart aching? Ask the Lord to fill you with His living water today.

Reading for today: Isaiah 14:1-32 and John 4:7-10

“Jesus said to her, ‘Give Me a drink.’” John 4:7b

Can you imagine the bewilderment of this woman when Jesus, a “prominent” Jewish man, asks her for a drink of water? She was coming out t in the heat of the day in order that she could avoid people, but she could not avoid the living God! Don’t ever “give up” on those that you are praying for. It is the Holy Spirit that draws souls to Himself. Pray that He would go after those who are lost.

Reading for today: Isaiah 13:1-22 and John 4:1-6

“…The LORD and His weapons of indignation, To destroy the whole land.’ Isaiah 13:5b

As Christians living in America today, we are to trust in God and in His ways, not in the ways of the world or government. We are to flee any temptations that man should put in front of us that would lure us away from the only One who is true. Psalm 20:7 says,  “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.” It is a great verse to hide in our hearts!

Reading for today: Isaiah 12:1-6 and John 3:34-36

“For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.” John 3:34

Jesus is the true Son of God, for God sent His Son to show us who our Father is first hand. We are given a choice to follow Him, and in return we are assured eternal life with Him. I pray that more people will seek God’s face and turn to Him for salvation. There is no better time than now to spread this Good News!

Reading for today: Isaiah 11:10-16 and John 3:31-33

“He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.” John 3:31

This verse illustrates the distinct separation of who we are and who God is. As believers we certainly understand that God is above us all. He is sovereign and the creator of all. As we grow in our faith, the meaning of this only gets stronger each day.

Reading for today: Isaiah 11:1-9 and John 3:30

“He must increase, but I must decrease.” John 3:30

What a powerful writing of Scripture! This is a great daily prayer point for us to decrease the focus on ourselves and increase how God wants to use us for His glory. Life is not about us, but instead it should be about the purpose that God has for us. Dear Lord, help me to increase You and decrease me each and every day.

Reading for today: Isaiah 10:24-34 and John 3:28-29

”…’I am not the Christ,’ ‘but, ‘I have been sent before Him.’” John 3:28b

John knew very well that he was not Jesus the Savior. John was being obedient to God by proclaiming the coming of Jesus, and then baptizing those who believed in the coming Savior. Neither do we proclaim any special powers, but instead we are to simply point those who we encounter to Jesus Himself. Then stand back while God convicts the heart to the truth of Jesus Christ.

Reading for today: Isaiah 10:20-23 and John 3:26-27

“John answered and said, ‘A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.’” John 3:27

Ephesians 2:8-9 teaches us that through God’s grace alone we are saved through our faith in Jesus Christ. There is nothing that we can do to earn our salvation. Our salvation is a gift that comes only from our Heavenly Father and from nowhere else.

Reading for today: Isaiah 10:13-19 and John 3:25

“Then there arose a dispute between some of John’s disciples and the Jews about purification.” John 3:25

There is nothing to argue about when it comes to whether or not we are forgiven of our sins through repentance and the acceptance of Jesus Christ. All too often people just like to argue for the sake of arguing. Instead, it is better to simply explain how God has changed your life since coming to know Jesus, and then go and live the life that God has put in front of you. Remember, actions speak louder than words.

Reading for today: Isaiah 10:5-12 and John 3:22-24

“And they came and were baptized.” John 3:23b

The act of being baptized does not cleanse us of our sins. To be forgiven of our sins, we must first ask God for forgiveness, and then accept Jesus into our lives. Once we have accepted Jesus, God then instructs us to be baptized. By being baptized, we are being obedient to God and are also proclaiming publicly our commitment to Jesus Christ as our Savior. Have you accepted Jesus but have not yet been baptized?
